When did you start your business and what was your inspiration?
I was teaching aerobics in 1983 when a friend in the class asked me to come review her closet. I assisted her, then received formal training in San Francisco and later, New York. Supporting others in becoming the best version of themselves inspires me. I want to really understand my client’s goals and take great care of them. In 2013 and ’14, I was thrilled to win the BBB Pinnacle Award for excellence in customer service.
What are the top five services that you offer?
- Wardrobe Styling-Men, Women, Students
- Corporate Training
- Etiquette Training-Children, Adults
- Professional Speaking/Keynotes
- Speech Coaching
Companies often find it more effective to bring in an image expert to convey messages regarding personal appearance and behavior than handling it in house.
What have been your favorite projects?
I’ve been honored to advise a presidential candidate, governor, his wife and our former mayor, Annise Parker. In ’99, I was on contract with Enron where I coached 225 employees here and made two trips to India working with their Mumbai and New Delhi offices. And of course, every client I dress and child I teach are gifts.
What new trends are you noticing in image consulting?
Impression Management has become a hot topic in my industry. I want to do so much more than just tell clients what colors look good on them. It’s about creating results in their lives. Wardrobe stylists and corporate trainers in my field are a smart investment and more widely used now. We’re not just for celebs and execs. While I love working with groups and individuals in person, virtual styling and coaching provide a medium for serving more clients at their convenience. I’ve done speech coaching via FaceTime. Teleconferencing my corporate trainings allows me to reach several offices of a law firm or international company efficiently.
